After the Brockton boys' soccer team's 6-2 victory yesterday, the Brockton and Xaverian boys have played "football" three times in 2007. That's two matches and one game.

The game was a 42-14 shellacking the Boxer football team put on the Hawks Sept. 21, and the first match was a 3-2 Xaverian soccer victory Sept. 15. Brockton 's dominance on the pitch yesterday equaled the Boxers' supremacy on the gridiron last weekend.

"They beat us the first time," said Brockton coach Rick Robens. "We just scored early and made some adjustments."

The Boxers led, 3-0, at the half, and cruised the rest of the way. Brockton got a hat trick from senior forward Jordan Branco, who increased his season total to nine goals.

Seniors Mario Goncalves and Michael Gomes, and junior Ian Woods took advantage of ample space in midfield, scoring a goal apiece.

Atlantic Coast : Luis Mattos scored four goals and Andrew Tucker had three assists as Dennis-Yarmouth ( 4-1-1 ) beat host Quincy, 6-1.

Catholic Conference: Ryan Russell made eight saves to record his fifth shutout of the season for BC High (5-1-2), which played defending state champion St. John's Prep (5-0-3) to a scoreless draw.

Nonleague: Sean Reilly's sixth goal of the season helped propel Arlington past Arlington Catholic, 3-1.

Girls' soccer

Atlantic Coast : Tiki Walker , Brittany Doherty, and Kelsey Russel each had two goals as Dennis-Yarmouth routed Quincy , 9-0.

Nonleague: After scoring four goals Friday night against Braintree , Sam Vilaboa netted two in Norwood 's 5-0 win over Ursuline yesterday . . . Worcester Academy recorded its second straight 8-0 victory, getting a pair of goals each from Elena Stansky and Ali Walendziak against St. George's .

Field hockey

Cape Ann: Molly Serino scored twice off corners to lead Lynnfield past Amesbury, 3-1.

Nonleague: Sophomore Molly Desmond scored twice for Lowell in a 3-0 victory over Bishop Fenwick . . . Sinead O'Brien tallied a goal and an assist as Concord-Carlisle blanked Tewksbury , 3-0.
