With the final seconds ticking off the clock in a tie boys' soccer game, Coyle-Cassidy forward Blake Brailsford dribbled past three Nantucket defenders and rifled a shot on goal. But Russell Bartlett was able to make a diving stop to preserve the 1-1 tie for the Whalers.
The Whalers ( 1-1-2 ) squandered a chance to take the lead when Martin Manov clanged a penalty kick off the crossbar with 10 minutes left.
The Warriors ( 1-3-2 ), fired up that Blaine Mota's takedown of Nantucket forward Alvaro Castro didn't cost them, were all over the Whalers for the final 10 minutes. Coyle-Cassidy peppered Bartlett (16 saves), but it could only sneak one past the Nantucket goalie.
The Whalers came out firing, with Castro scoring nine minutes into the game.
Brett Holmgren, Coyle-Cassidy's junior goalkeeper, was perfect from that point on, making six saves.
Coyle-Cassidy tied it 15 minutes into the second half, with Brailsford beating Bartlett on a penalty kick.
