5/21/2008

Reny saves the day for Marblehead in North final

3/8/2008

As the anthem played, Aaron Reny stood alone, halfway between his teammates lined up on the blue line and his net, impatiently shifting from side to side. When the last note was sung, Reny skated straight for his crease - and the Marblehead boys' hockey team is glad he did. The junior was a major factor in the Headers' 1-0 upset win over Concord-Carlisle in last night's Division 3 North championship game in Chelmsford. CONTINUE

Xaverian rallies, outguns St. John's

3/7/2008

LOWELL - St. John's Prep scored two goals in two games against Xaverian in the regular season. Needing a win in the second round-robin game to keep their Super 8 chances alive, the Eagles took just three shots - and 17 seconds - to net that many in the first period last night at Tsongas Arena. Unfortunately for the Eagles (12-7-3), the Hawks (13-6-3) answered the Prep's quick burst with some second-period fireworks, scoring four goals - including the first two in just 20 seconds - to take the lead for good and remain undefeated against their Catholic League rival, 7-4. 2/20/2008

The human body was not designed to play sports. Our joints evolved to allow for great flexibility and range of motion, connecting bone to bone by remarkably strong, fibrous ligaments, and cushioning them with cartilage. But those tissues have a limited durability, and the constant wear and tear of competition takes a toll. CONTINUE

3/31/2006

Boston University, with a student population of more than 30,000, is not likely to be mistaken for either Union College, with a student population less than a tenth of that, or the University of Texas, which weighs in at 50,000 students. Weagle tough on hill for Twisters

7/7/2008

BROCKTON For a moment last night, no one in Campanelli Stadium knew if Chuck Jeroloman was safe or out.

There were two outs in the top of the ninth, and the score was tied at 3. The Tornadoes third baseman had just bowled over Brockton catcher Lee Rubin, as the Rox reserve tried to simultaneously block the plate and catch the throw from right fielder Eugene Julien. And for one fleeting moment, everyone was in doubt.

Then the ball trickled away and Jeroloman wriggled over Rubin and slapped home plate, giving the Tornadoes a lead en route to the 4-3 victory. CONTINUE
